I have always been a little afraid to let my 'freak flag' fly; however, with age, I'm starting not to really give a crap anymore; if I love something, I need to stop worrying, and start doing MORE of it! I am passionate about Disney films & pop culture, and I think spending my time talking about those things will make me a happier geek in the end! For some background, I'm 23 years old and I love Disney films as if I was 7 years old. I sit at the movie theaters for the newest kid's movie, singing along with the characters, like some kind of adult weirdo person. I cried during Inside Out, as well as with Judy Hopps in Zootopia. *Sidenote: Judy Hopps is everything, and I feel that girl on some type of spiritual level, for real!
My favorite Disney movie is Wreck-it Ralph. I think it is one of the most clever movies Disney Animation Studios has ever released. For being one of the top grossing movies of the Disney Revival era of films, and being one of the first CGI movies of Disney Studios (not including Disney/Pixar films), it was done beautifully! The concept was beyond creative, and it reeled in both the younger demographic, and also us 80's & 90's kids who spent our afternoons playing Super Mario, Yoshi's Island, and Frogger. To see the video game characters come to life on the screen was an interesting twist to the kid-ults who grew up playing those games! Intermixing those with a new cast of gaming characters was interesting, as well.
I hope that if and when they produce a WiR 2, that they incorporate some more characters, and other gaming experiences! What if they dove into other game systems, like games that are popular in the new generation? Or if the arcade was closing down, or if they became portable games, or if they had a 2nd console of their same game plugged in. Could you imagine a movie where one Ralph is the original guy, and the newly plugged-in Ralph didn't care and really was a bad guy? Like, and the good Ralph becomes lost somehow, and they don't know whats wrong with him because the other characters don't know a second game was ever plugged in? (NOTICE ME, DISNEY STUDIOS! I COME WORK AT YOUR STORY-BOARDING SESSIONS, PLEASE!!!)
Anyhow, the whole point of this post was basically to tell you my love for Disney movies, and for crafting things based on those films. I have a tutorial on a Vanellope Von Schweetz costume I did for Halloween a few years ago! People at parties I attended that year loved the attention to detail, which inspired me to make my first costume tutorial!
Crafting is a really fun thing for me that I really wish I could do more of. I would probably love to go to Comic Con and what not, I just never had the opportunity to... I have so many costume ideas in my head that I wish I had the time/money for, but maybe this blog will give me an excuse to do all the ones I want! :)
